Matatea, a.k.a. Téa (TEY-YA) is Space2Leap’s founder and principal consultant.

Of French-Chinese descent, she was born and raised on the island of Tahiti, French Polynesia, where great-grandfather, Francis Sanford, led the struggle for Polynesian independence from French rule, including a vociferous opposition to France’s nuclear test program in our territory.

Her great-grandfather’s legacy inspired her to build a cause-driven career. Téa boasts seven years of experience as a project and operations manager for mission-driven startups and nonprofits across industries and countries. Over time, she has refined her niche into early-stage trans-disciplinary endeavors with high potential and a focus on solving complex issues that reflect the interconnectedness of our world.

Téa is an alumnae of Oxford University (Msc.), Auckland University (BA), and Universidad Católica de Chile (academic exchange). She is fluent in French, English, and Spanish and has an interdisciplinary background in Asian and Latin American studies with a focus on natural resources governance.
